Organizational Meeting

The reason Materials people came to Portland Maine to participate in the TUG this year was to organize a core group of people to provide expertise and direction for the development of a fully functional Materials Information Management System within SiteManager that would completely support construction administration and give materials a fully automated system to manage materials information both in the field and in the laboratory.

We discussed and arrived at consensus that our short term goal was going to be assistance in the transition and that our long term goal was to provide a scope of services that would define a complete Materials Information Management System that would be used in solicitation for funding from SiteManager participants.

MISSION STATEMENT

PROVIDE GUIDANCE,COORDINATION, AND OVERSIGHT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT, IMPLEMENTATION, AND MAINTENANCE OF A MODERN COMPREHENSIVE MATERIALS INFORMATION MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF A TOTAL TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION SYSTEM.

Our Goals in sequential order:

    1. To assist in a seamless transition between MCI Systemhouse and Infotech and to review and comment on updates, corrections, and enchancements to the present version of SiteManager
    2. To provide a scope of services for a Materials Information Management that will:
      bulletinclude worksheets for field testers and inspectors at the construction sight
      bulletautomate and include a materials information management system for district and central
      laboratories
      bulletautomate and include a materials information management system for materials tested and
      inspected offsite

Tasks ahead of us in the immediate future:

    1. Solicit MatTAG participation from a broad field
    2. Choose between 8 and 12 qualified TAG members who will be willing to work and not just building a resume
    3. Plan and provide a schedule to accomplish our goals

With an aggressive schedule, I would anticipate that considering the time requirements necessary for solicitation, funding, development, and testing we are looking at a minimum of 3 years to complete our efforts.
